Religious Exploration Program
Religious Exploration classes for children (and nursery care for those under 4) are offered throughout the church year during Sunday Worship Services at 10 a.m mid-September through mid-June.
Our minister works with experienced volunteers to provide children grades K-5 with a balanced program in which adults, children, and youth learn from each other. This program integrates education, music, ritual, philosophical discussion, social outreach, community building opportunities, and fun in a caring and nurturing environment.
Children often attend the beginning or ending of services in the Sanctuary. They may choose to remain there during the entire service.
This program fosters spiritual and ethical growth, through exploration of justice, love, community, and connection to nature.
The learning is based on the 7 UU Principles, which in youth language are:
- We believe that each and every person is important.
- We believe that all people should be treated fairly and kindly.
- We believe that we should accept one another and keep on learning.
- We believe that each person must be free to search for what is true and right in life.
- We believe that all persons should have a vote about the things that concern them.
- We believe in working for a peaceful, fair, and free world.
- We believe in caring for our planet Earth, the home we share with all living things.
